Alumna Stephanie joins The Great British Bake Off 2019

Loughborough alumna Stephanie Blackwell is one of the contestants in this year's 'Great British Bake Off', the series of which is currently being aired on Channel 4. Stephanie graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in Psychology in 2013.

Stephanie Blackwell has taken to our screens as one of The Great British Bake Off contestants this year.

Joining the cast of thirteen talented bakers, Stephanie will face three weekly challenges on the show. Week one was a “cake week” which saw Stephanie make angel cakes and fruit cake alongside the other contestants.

Her interest in baking developed at a young age when her grandad shared with her his love of baking homemade bread.

Since then, the primarily self-taught baker has enjoyed being in the kitchen. She loves the challenge of baking healthy treats and often adds fruit and vegetables to her creations. She is inspired by her interests in sport and wellness and was a keen athlete during her time at Loughborough. One of her favourite things to make is a sourdough loaf, which she’s named “Sammy”.

She is the third Loughborough graduate to feature on the show, with alumnus Rahul taking the Bake Off crown last year, and alumna Frances winning in 2013.

Stephanie graduated from the University with a degree in Psychology in 2013.

The series airs on Channel 4 on a weekly basis, on Tuesdays at 8pm.

We wish Stephanie the best of luck in the competition.
