Presented By Professor Nick Webborn

On Tuesday 17 November Professor Nick Webborn will deliver an online public lecture on the evolution of Paralympic sports medicine.

Professor Nick Webborn is one of the industry’s leading experts in sports medicine. He is Professor of Sport and Exercise Medicine at the University of Brighton and a Visiting Professor at Loughborough University. This lecture is a fitting topic for Nick who was elected Chair of the British Paralympic Association (BPA) in 2017 and awarded the OBE for services to Paralympic Sports Medicine and the British Paralympic Association. Outside of his University and BPA duties Nick is Chair of the International Paralympic Committee’s Medical Committee and a member of UK Anti Doping’s Therapeutic Use Exemption Committee.

This talk will cover the evolution of Paralympic sports medicine as a specialty and how it has evolved from being rehabilitation into trying to provide the same support for Paralympic athletes as Olympic athletes. Nick has been on this journey over the last 30 years and will share this with you.

This public lecture is part of Loughborough University’s School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences Sport Performance Theme seminar series.
