Loughborough graduates announced as winners of Young Innovator’s Award

We are delighted to share that Thomas Constant, Jess Strain and Anthony Camu have all been awarded the 2021/22 Young Innovator Award.

The Young Innovator Award, in partnership with Innovate UK, The Prince’s Trust and KTN, recognises young people with creative and ground-breaking business ideas.

Over 1,300 young people applied for this award and following a rigorous assessment process, 63 Young Innovators were awarded.

The winners of this year’s Young Innovators’ Awards look set to tackle some of our biggest societal challenges and will be offered seed funding, a living allowance and a full year of business coaching to transform their innovative ideas into commercially successful start-ups.

In the award winners, three School of Design and Creative Arts graduates were awarded the Young Innovator’s Award:

Thomas Constant

Young Innovator Thomas Constant

Thomas launched BeoBia in 2019 as a system to breed and grow your own protein-rich pet food at home. BeoBia looks to provide a sustainable and healthy source of protein while reusing house hold food waste, even in the most urban of locations. Thomas studied Industrial Design and Technology at Loughborough University.

Jess Strain

Jess Strain Young Innovators Award 2021-22

Jess developed Ovrbloom as a sustainable textile brand harnessing the world’s waste. Ovrbloom is a transparent and sustainable accessory brand that is looking to disrupt the fashion industry with transparent reporting for every single product. Jess studied Textiles Innovation and Design and graduated in 2020.

Anthony Camu

Anthony Camu Young Innovators Award

Anthony founded Theia in 2020, as research and development organisation focusing on intelligent mobility. Theia looks to replace white canes for the visually impaired with portable technology that enables users to follow paths and avoid obstacles.
