Originally from Porto Alegre - Brazil, Sara joined Loughborough University in 2022 as a University Teacher. She has a PhD in Typography and Graphic communication from the University of Reading, UK, and Msc in Design by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil. Prior to joining Lboro Uni, Sara was a professor at UFRGS for 10 years, conducting research and extension activities, and teaching different modules of Graphic Design at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Sara's main research interest is in Information design. Most recently she has been investigating infographics of personal narratives as a teaching practice.

For her PhD she investigated the use of informative and decorative pictures in health & safety posters for children.

Sara is also is part of the research group Graphic Memory (UFRGS).

Sara is currently teaching ACA802 - Visual Methods in Practice.
