Dr. Melissa Monika Wagner is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Loughborough University. She holds a PhD from University of Lille (ENSAIT-GEMTEX) and worked in the research group Human Centered Design (HCD) under the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctoral Program SMDTex (Sustainable Management and Design for Textiles). Before, she completed her Master of Arts in Textile Innovation and Branding at University of Leeds in 2014 and her Bachelor of Engineering in Textile Engineering and Management from Saxion University of Applied Sciences in 2013.

As a Postdoctoral Research Associate in The Business of Fashion, Textiles and Technology (BFTT) Creative Research & Development Partnership project, Melissa is currently working on Challenge 5. Circular Materials that investigates synthetic and oil based materials with the aim to repurpose materials and develop business innovation opportunities.

Her previous research was based on the exploration of ethical fashion, studying quantitative consumer emotional and perceptual values and related analysis into the eco-fashion design approach.

During her PhD she gave guest lectures on the topic of “Ethical Fashion”.
