Sohrab Baghri – Obituary

We are sad to report the news of the death of Sohrab Baghri from COVID-19. Sohrab was a former member of staff with WEDC working in the field of emergency sanitation.

Sohrab was a civil engineer, campaigner and charity worker who specialised in supplying water and sanitation projects in developing countries. He was a former member of WEDC staff before becoming an adviser to the development charity Plan International at its headquarters in Woking, Surrey.

His daughter Linda said he travelled to over 65 countries and worked with several humanitarian charities. She said: “He was a character and believed in standing up for what’s right even if this meant going on a hunger strike. Our dad was a man of principles and stood against injustices.” She added: “Not being able to hold you close before your last breath will really stay with me forever. You were a man of principles with high moral standards. Amongst all the great things you have achieved, you were the best dad and granddad to my children.”

The Guardian reports his death on April 8th, aged 63, from the Covid-19 pandemic.
