Systems-NET

News on Systems-NET Opportunities

Peer to peer working is crucial to successful interdisciplinary working. Systems-NET developed  a portfolio of secondments for UK academics to spend time in a complementary laboratory or industry in order to develop cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Immersive Secondments are aimed to young researchers and new members of university staff. A Visiting Scholar Scheme supports top-quality international interdisciplinary collaborations between academic members of Systems-NET and other institutions (national/international).

Visiting Scholar Scheme

Systems-NET provided support for Dr Ibrahim Habli from the University of York in a collaborative project at the Intelligent Systems Division of NASA Ames Research Centre. The project entitled Dynamic Assurance of Safety explores ways in which the safety case of a system can be treated as a dynamic artefact, which is continually updated based on operational data in order to maintain and assess the validity of safety.

Immersive Secondments:

Systems-NET has supported the following short-term immersive secondments to pursue collaboration in Systems Research:

James Anderson from Oxford University carried out an immersive secondment on Robust and Optimal Control of Complex Systems at Stanford University in California USA. This Immersive Secondment report is available here Optimal and Robust Control of Networked Systems

Joseph Abram from Southampton University carried out an immersive secondment on Systems Dynamics and Species Dispersal of Freshwater Ecosystems within the State of Florida, USA. A report from his visit is available following this link System Dynamics and Species Dispersal of Freshwater Ecosystems

Systems-NET collaboration programmes provide financial support to allow systems researchers to spend time in an industry or academic institution.  The ultimate aim is to facilitate knowledge transfer across different research hubs.
