MBSE for Industry 4.0 and IoT

In the new era of smart factories and Industry 4.0 cyber physical systems have the potential to monitor processes, create virtual reality of actual operations, act independently and use IoT to communicate and cooperate with other systems and humans in real time.‌ Modelling next generation MBSE for Industry 4.0 and IoT to allow scalability and add end to end value‌‌ ‌was identified as one of the grand challenges for systems engineering in the Systems-NET Research Grand Challenges Workshop that took place in June 2015. In order to further explore this Grand Challenge a workshop was hosted at Brunel University and discussion took place on the approaches that are needed in Systems Requirements, Design, Analysis, Verification and Validation in order to move swiftly into the future.
