As recently announced, the Intelligent Automation Centre has been awarded a share of £25m worth of EPSRC funding for a new Robotics Research Centre to improve collaborative technology and help businesses unlock the full potential of automated industrial manufacturing.
This three and a half year project, called Made Smarter Innovation Research Centre for Smart, Collaborative Industrial Robotics (MSI-CeSCIR), is aimed at advancing smart manufacturing by eliminating barriers and accelerating widespread use of smart collaborative robotics technology to unlock the full potential of the UK industry in productivity, quality and adaptability.
The project launch took place virtually yesterday and was attended by multidisciplinary teams from the 6 Universities involved: Loughborough University, Cranfield University, the University of Strathclyde, the University of Warwick, the University of Bristol and the University of Dundee.
Also in attendance were delegates from the 47 external partner organisations who will be working closely with the Centre, representing a cross section of core UK industrial sectors including aerospace, automotive, agri-food, energy, construction and space, together with a number of international partner organisations.
