IAS Polar Theme Community Engagement Event

  • 7 May 2020
  • 10.30 - 12.15
  • Virtual IAS

Does your research engage with ‘Polar’? Are you interested in Polar as a discipline for a future research area? Come along to our virtual drop in session to find out about the IAS Polar Theme for 2020/21! This theme is for anyone interested in the local or global challenges posed by the Earth’s extremes, their physical impacts, their social and economic significance, and their cultural meaning.

The three poles mark the Earth’s extremes: the Arctic at its northernmost extremity, the Antarctic at its southernmost extremity and the Hindu Kush-Himalaya at its highest extremity. Each of these polar regions provides unique environments and remarkable inspirations. Yet for all their distinctiveness, they also share critical functions and extraordinary challenges. The From Arctic to Polar team will discuss planned activities and colleagues will be able to learn more how to become involved with the theme.

Further information on the Polar Theme can be found on the IAS website. Please bring along your ideas and thoughts - all welcome!
