Matthew is an Electronic and Electrical Engineer who has focused on renewable energy systems since 2001. Matthew studied Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Imperial College. He completed the MSc in Renewable Energy Systems at CREST, Loughborough University and then, in 2006, completed a PhD at CREST in Stand-alone Hydrogen Energy Storage Systems. Matthew worked in the Philippines in 2007-2008 installing renewable energy systems (solar PV, micro-hydro and small wind turbines) for remote electrification with SIBAT, an NGO.

Since 2009, Matthew has run a small consultancy (RE-Innovation Ltd) working on a diverse range of projects including grid-connected and off-grid renewable energy systems, data-logging and monitoring systems, product design and embedded hardware.

Matthew has also run renewable energy technical training courses (including the C&G2360 Solar PV Installation City and Guild course) and hands-on workshops for a wide range of ages and abilities.
