Sharon Henson is the project coordinator for the SUPERGEN SuperSolar Hub. The SUPERGEN SuperSolar Hub is 5 year project that will see the creation of the UK's first standards lab for solar cells and a research programme that aims to improve the efficiency of next generation photovoltaic devices. The Hub provides a training and networking programme for the photovoltaic research sector in both universities and industry.

The project is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). Led by Loughborough University's Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST) the project partners include the Universities of Bath, Liverpool, Oxford, Sheffield, Southampton, Cambridge and Imperial College along with the Energy Generation and Supply Knowledge Transfer Network.

Prior to this she was the Systems Engineering Doctorate Centre (SEDC) coordinator. The SEDC is a consortium with the University of Bath, Queens University Belfast, University of Leicester and the University of Strathclyde and many partners from industry.

She also undertook a two-year part-time secondment as a research associate in the Engineering Systems of Systems Research Group, to work on the T-AREA SoS project (Trans-Atlantic Research and Education Agenda in Systems of Systems), a support action to develop a research agenda in SoS. The project is funded by the EU under FP7 and ran from September 2011 until August 2013.
