The mainstreaming of the far right: populism, racism and ‘the people’

Presented By Aurelien Mondon

About this event

This talk will provide an overview of Dr Mondon’s current research and in particular his work with Aaron Winter for their book ‘Reactionary Democracy: How racism and the ‘populist’ far right became mainstream’. Using the concept of populist hype as a cornerstone, this talk will analyse the ways in which attention has been diverted away from political and democratic debates towards exaggerated crises such as the rise of the far right.
