Constituting and Communicating Care in Grassroots Organisations
About this event
This workshop will bring together academics, activists and artists to break new theoretical and practical ground on how feminist approaches to care can be ‘constituted’ in organisational processes. The workshops will assemble a range of voices to begin a conversation on addressing care in organisations through practice-based interventions involving performance and art.
As well as key academics and postgraduate researchers from across the School of Social, Political and Geographical Sciences and the School of the Arts, English and Drama, the workshops will invite activist academics and art practitioners from across the UK who have worked extensively on the politics and economics of care.
The workshop will adopt a co-production and participatory action research process developing artistic interventions through co-research conducted with activists involved in social movement organisations. This will take the form of an explorative examination of issues of care in social movements – care for those marginalised in daily life and in mainstream organisations, care for the self, collective responsibilities around care, care for physical, mental and emotional health in organisations – and will identify some core areas of concern to be developed further.
