About this event

" I am an MA student from Hacettepe University, Turkey, and an active participant of Hacettepe University Micro-Analysis Network (HUMAN). I am bringing data from a corpus I collected for my thesis. My data comprises of video recordings from 20 online dyadic and mundane Skype conversations. I examine naturally occurring interactions between Turkish and Kazakh students of prep classes. Since these countries don’t share the same mother tongue, yet still use English to communicate, the researcher has the chance to investigate interactions from English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) context, which is not a common research context in CA. In the extract, two students are talking about their weekend activities on their 2nd and last talk."
