Prime Minister comments on the positive impact Loughborough University has on sport
On Wednesday 3 April, Nicky Morgan MP and Prime Minister Theresa May addressed the House of Commons and acknowledged the success of both Loughborough University and Team GB athletes who recently competed in the Special Olympics.
In the Commons Chamber, Nicky Morgan said: “In Loughborough, we’re very proud of Loughborough University being the best university in the world for sports-related subjects.
“But one of the groups of athletes that have been much under-sung in recent weeks is our Team GB athletes who took part in the Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi.
“127 athletes returned with 169 medals – over 60 gold.”
Prime Minister Theresa May responded with: “I’m very happy to join her [Nicky Morgan] and I’m sure everybody across this House will join me in congratulating our GB team in the significant haul of medals they brought back from those Special Olympics.
“And can I also say how much we value Loughborough University and the work it does on sport-related matters.”
