Owner of world-famous casino visits Loughborough to hear about latest research

Jimmy Thomas, one of Loughborough’s most successful businessmen, visited the University last week to discuss research being conducted by the School of Business and Economics.

The owner of the world-famous Hippodrome Casino – the largest casino in London – arrived on campus on Friday (11 May).

He started his trip by meeting with Loughborough MP Nicky Morgan, who was also on campus visiting the School of Business and Economics, before hearing from academics whose research focuses on cancer care and helping the elderly remain at home.

Jimmy also enjoyed a tour of the Sir Richard Morris building and met with Dean of the School of Business and Economics Professor Stewart Robinson.

Professor Robinson commented: “We very much enjoyed Jimmy’s visit to the School of Business and Economics.

“Jimmy is keenly interested in our work on health and wellbeing, and also in our plans to develop the physical space to support our ambitions for the School.”
