Loughborough University to host the Association of Art Historians Conference 2017

Loughborough’s School of the Arts, English and Drama is working with the Association of Art Historians (AAH) to host the 43rd AAH Annual Conference and Art Book Fair from 6 - 8 April 2017.

AAH2017 is set to celebrate the histories, theories and practices that characterise art historical research today, bringing together eminent scholars and emerging voices in art history and visual culture.

Taking place at a different institution each year, these prominent international events attract up to 600 delegates, speakers and publishers. The three-day Loughborough event will feature over 200 papers, keynote lectures, special interest sessions and networking opportunities.

Marsha Meskimmon, Professor of Art History and Theory at Loughborough and convenor of the conference, said: “The conference celebrates the expansive field of art history today with a programme that is both eclectic and inclusive, crossing geopolitical, cultural and disciplinary boundaries to explore the power of the visual.

“Hosting this prestigious conference further establishes Loughborough as a key centre for art and design history, theory and practice in the UK and internationally. We look forward to welcoming delegates from Europe and the Americas, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Australia to our campus in April.”

Further information, including bookings and the full programme, is available on the AAH2017 website.
