Success at University Community Day

The University ran its annual community day with people of all ages invited to get involved.

Visitors took part in a number of interactive and exciting workshops including ‘walking on custard’ and ‘human sized bubbles’. Other activities included dancing with robots, racing solar cars, making seaweed, a visit from the Formula student racing car and team and more.

There were also demonstrations and exhibits from the Science and Engineering departments. Visitors gained an insight into the cutting edge research at the University with a chance to meet staff and students.

The community day is run annually as a part of British Science Week, a UK-wide programme of events and activities celebrating science, technology, engineering and maths.

Sian Williams, Subject Outreach Specialist at the University, said:  “The day was a huge success and we were thrilled to see so many people turn up and get involved in the activities on offer. It’s always great to invite members of the local community onto campus to give them an insight into what the University does.

“We would like to thank 3M and the staff and pupils of Castle Rock High School for their lovely contributions and the Defence Technical Undergraduate Scheme students.”
