Giving, receiving, wanting or needing? A discussion on the ethics of gift-giving

  • 13 December 2018
  • 6:30pm-7:30pm
  • Lecture Theatre J001, Edward Herbert Building

About this event

Why do we give presents? Is there a point at which gift-giving becomes unethical? Can we give more responsibly?

This evening will discuss these questions (and more) from a variety of perspectives, with our panel consisting of Loughborough academics Dr Thomas Thurnell-Read (Lecturer in Cultural Sociology), Dr Shahin Rahimifard (Professor of Sustainable Engineering), Dr Petros Vourvachis (Lecturer in Accounting) and Phil Ball (Account Manager at Enva – our University’s waste contractor).

Come to listen, learn and ask questions about the challenges and opportunities of giving more ethically this season.

Light refreshments will be served from 6pm.
