EU Settlement Scheme pilot
Recently the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) issued a communication in relation to the EU Settlement Scheme pilot.
A new phase of the EU Settlement Scheme pilot will open on 1 November 2018 and will run until 21 December 2018. The pilot is voluntary and includes citizens from EU countries only as the rights of citizens from EEA countries are still under negotiation.
Under this phase of the pilot and with effect from 15 November 2018, colleagues who are eligible to apply for pre-settled or settled status must be employees of Loughborough University and be either:
- An EU citizen who has a valid biometric passport (this is an e-passport which has a digital chip), or
- A non-EU citizen family member of an EU citizen who has a biometric residence card with ‘EU Right to Reside’ on the back, which has been applied for on or after 6 April 2015.
The latest information is available from the link below.
EU citizens will still have up to 2 years after we leave the EU to apply for settled status. The EU Settlement Scheme will open fully by March 2019. The deadline for applying will be 30 June 2021. The University will reimburse the cost of £65 for members of staff only.
Further information will be available in the EU Settlement Scheme section of the HR website immigration pages nearer to 15th November once the UKVI have published the full procedure on ‘how to apply’.
