Padi Network

Run by Sawida Magba-Kamara

What do you study at Loughborough and what year are you in?

I study Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management MSc and I am just finishing up my course now.

Tell us more about Padi Network

The Padi Network is a social and educational platform for Black female entrepreneurs to build a network and have resources to thrive in the start-up ecosystem. It will be all about support, sisterhood, and uplifting one another to thrive in entrepreneurship and I am so excited for it to come to fruition.

How did you start your business?

It is still in its early stages but my motivation came from my dissertation research and my interest in entrepreneurship, for Black female entrepreneurs in particular.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by God firstly but I am also inspired by the amazing Black women out there changing the landscape of entrepreneurship and pressing on in the face of adversity.

Is championing Black-owned businesses important to you and if so, why?

It is extremely important to me as a Black woman. I believe that we should be celebrated and shouted about. As a community, it is important that we motivate and uplift one another as this is the foundation of business.

What advice would you give people who want to start a business but are unsure?

Ask and you shall receive! Ask for help, go for it, do not listen to that niggling voice in the back of your head that discourages you. You can and should do it.

Anything else you want us to know about your business?

I am working on the Padi Network app and social pages so stay tuned!
