Measuring the impact of Scotland's libraries

April to July 2017

The Scottish Library and Information Council has appointed a team, led by Claire Creaser at LISU, together with colleagues from the Centre for Information Management, to undertake a research study to scope out the current landscape, best practice and methods, and identify the key issues associated with measuring impact in libraries in the UK and internationally. The aim of this research is to improve the measurement of library impact in Scotland’s public libraries, which will enable library services better to demonstrate this impact to secure political support and continued funding, and to show their contribution to the national strategy for public libraries in Scotland. The work will contribute to a new model for library impact measurement in Scotland.
