Global Command and Control Centres, 2006/2009/2012

G. Csomós

These databases demonstrate the global command and control centres for the years 2006, 2009 and 2012. They constitute the basis of the analysis in GaWC Research Bulletin No. 381 “Cities as Control and Command Centres: Analysis and Interpretation” and GaWC Research Bulletin No. 402 “European Cities as Command and Control Centres, 2006-11”.

All data have been calculated from the Forbes “The Global 2000” databases which contain information on the world's largest 2000 public corporations as measured by a composite ranking for assets, market values, profits and revenues. Corporations operating in various industry categories (used by Forbes) have been classified into the ten basic industry sectors of the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) developed by Morgan Stanley Capital International and Standard & Poor's. Assets, market values, profits and revenues from all Forbes “The Global 2000” corporations for 2006, 2009 and 2012 are aggregated to headquarter cities as specified by Bloomberg. Headquarter cities have been integrated into urban agglomerations as defined by the United Nations and national statistical offices.

These tables contain data for 386 cities in 2006, 416 cities in 2009 and 433 cities in 2012.
