Local leaders renew joint commitment to tackling anti-social behaviour

The University’s Vice Chancellor Professor Robert Allison, its Chief Operating Officer Richard Taylor, Borough Council Leader David Slater and Chief Executive Geoff Parker met with the Loughborough MP on 12 December.

They agreed to continue with a robust approach to addressing anti-social behaviour. The University and Borough Council share data on incidences and are monitoring this closely to identify patterns, including repeat occurrences by individuals or households.

Professor Robert Allison, the University Vice Chancellor, said: “We know that incidences of anti-social behaviour do occur and can have a negative impact on the local community. We want to ensure that the University continues to work closely with the Borough Council to address this matter.”

Nicky Morgan MP commented: “My office receives a number of complaints about persistent anti-social behaviour happening at the same address. For nearby residents this is incredibly stressful and badly affects the quality of their life. I am very pleased to be working with the University and Charnwood Council on how such behaviour can be combated.”

Councillor David Slater said: “We already have very good collaboration with partners to tackle anti-social behaviour. I am pleased that we have met to discuss ways in which we can work together to become even more effective.”

The leaders meet regularly to discuss issues of mutual interest.
