Dr Sara Ronca

Reader in Polymer Science and Technology

Areas of expertise

Expertise: Plastic; polymer science; polymer synthesis and characterisation from molecular level to bulk; polyolefins; polyesters; functional polymers; polymer sustainability; and block copolymers

Dr Sara Ronca has expertise in polymers having various functionalities and architectures, obtained either through synthesis and/or processing.

She has reported one of the first examples of polyethylene stretched tapes, where the orientation induced to the polymer chains is responsible for high thermal conductivity of these materials in the absence of electrical conduction.

She is also interested in polymer sustainability and the role of plastic in today's society.
