The School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences at Loughborough University is internationally renowned for excellence in teaching and research.
Highly rated in national university league tables and number one in the world in the QS World University Rankings by Subject in 2017, 2018 and 2019 for sports-related subjects, the School’s wide-ranging expertise encompasses such diverse areas as medicine, molecular biology, nutrition, biomechanics, economics, pedagogy, psychology, sociology and sport management.
We are looking for candidates at Professor, Reader, Senior Lecturer and Lecturer level to join the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, particularly in the following areas:
The School has a critical mass of psychologists with a wide range of applied specialisms which relate well to the School's research themes including Sport and Exercise Psychologists, Health Psychologists and Experimental Psychologists. In particular, applications would be welcomed from candidates whose research interests focus on behavioural change applied to lifestyle interventions and its impact on health outcomes.
Strength and Conditioning
The School has strengths in the underpinning disciplines of neuromuscular physiology, biomechanics and coaching and a strong applied research activity working with our Sport Development colleagues who service Elite Sport. Applications would be welcomed from candidates with interests in Strength and Conditioning from the perspective of the underpinning disciplines e.g. neuromuscular physiology and biomechanics.

The School is home to over 130 members of academic and senior research staff, 220 research students and 50 members of administrative, technical and management/specialist staff.

Research within the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences continues to have a far-reaching impact and reflects the global interests of staff and their extensive international collaboration. Research is multi-disciplinary, drawing on the full spectrum of natural and social sciences, and is focused on issues of contemporary concern at international, national and local levels.
With access to state-of-the-art laboratories, teaching resources, equipment, sport and exercise facilities including the establishment of a £10m pioneering sport and exercise medicine centre at Loughborough (one of three regional hubs that, together, form the country's first ever National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine), Loughborough University and the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences offer both a truly unique student experience and a dynamic centre of research excellence.
