Lecturer in Design Innovation
Overall, the purpose is to contribute to and enhance the research, teaching and enterprise activities of the Institute for Design Innovation of Loughborough University in London. The research-intensive Institute combines creative collaboration and co-creation to understand and create value for users, organisations, ecosystems and society.
As areas of research and teaching, the Institute engages in examining design value, meaning, practice and service and policy design, together with the management of design in both the design industry and other societal contexts. Institute staff routinely publish their research in major design (and related) journals. Current emerging research streams include critical perspectives in design management, design in entrepreneurial contexts, services, and research into the design industry itself. The Institute for Design Innovation enjoys a collaborative relationship with The School of Design and Creative Arts, based at Loughborough University’s Midlands campus.
More specifically, the purpose of this post is to contribute to the emerging and ongoing research and teaching in and around the design industry and the use of design in entrepreneurial activity. The field of study is situated within the wider creative industries sector. The area of study is expected to widely involve user and customer engagement in new product, service and business development, the co-creation of value in design practice and the industry, and the application of service design, design thinking, critical perspectives and digital approaches in wide enterprise, intra- and entrepreneurship contexts. The area involves furthermore engaging with potentially disruptive early stage and growth initiatives, for-profit and social enterprise, community-based activities and widening participation, highlighting especially the use of design supporting innovation to disability and assisted technologies.
Applicants are warmly encouraged to demonstrate their expertise and interest in new exploratory themes and topics, imaginative contexts and novel methodologies within the wider areas of design that have received scant attention to date but represent potentially valuable avenues of investigation.
Senior Lecturer or Lecturer in International Management
The vision for the Institute for International Management is to become a leading academic group representing a contextual approach to Comparative Management and International Business that is interdisciplinary and methodologically and theoretically pluralistic. Our research and teaching draws on sociology, political science, political economy, heterodox economics, and anthropology.
Our approach is critical in the broad sense of seeking to develop management and business theory and research that contributes to addressing the existential threats humanity is facing, from the ecological catastrophe to extreme inequality and extremist political movements.
We want to recruit a Senior Lecturer or Lecturer who will contribute to our research programme on international and comparative management and enhance our capacity in the area of sustainability and sustainable management. The successful candidate is expected to teach modules in sustainable management and corporate social responsibility. We welcome applications for scholars with any disciplinary background. Depending on their background, the successful candidate may also contribute to our School-wide programmes in international development.
We particularly welcome applications from scholars with a focus on developing countries. We also encourage applications from non-male candidates and candidates from minority groups.
The University is dedicated to supporting an equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment – to create better futures, together. The diverse backgrounds, characteristics and opinions within our community are our great strength and are key to our pursuit of delivering educational excellence, enterprise, research and professional services. We welcome applications from people from diverse backgrounds and minoritized groups as they are currently under-represented within our community.
We recognise the value of a fulfilling and balanced work and personal life which promotes wellbeing. We seek to support colleagues in achieving this balance and have family-friendly policies, flexible working arrangements and many roles can be suitable for dynamic working arrangement. This includes considering applications to work on a part-time, flexible and job share basis wherever possible.
