Loughborough University to reimburse cost of ‘red list’ government quarantine

We are delighted to confirm that Loughborough University will reimburse the cost of quarantine to the value of £2,285, for new undergraduate and postgraduate (taught and research) students arriving from Red List countries. We hope this provides reassurance and support for those students who wish to join Loughborough this year but are being asked to quarantine in government hotel facilities as part of the University arrival process.

This will apply to those students beginning a programme of study with us in October 2021 or January 2022 at either of our campuses in the East Midlands or in London.

You will need to book into a Government approved hotel before you travel to the UK – you may be asked for proof of booking and payment when you board the aircraft or when you arrive at the UK border control so keep your confirmation emails easily accessible.

The reimbursement will be made as a credit against your remaining tuition fees or University-managed accommodation fees. To claim reimbursement you will need to complete this claim form including evidence of your red list hotel quarantine payment confirmation and negative day 8 Covid test. You will be notified of the outcome of your application for reimbursement within 4 weeks of your submission. In some cases we may ask you for further evidence that the costs of quarantine were borne by you. You will be notified if we require any further information.

You must submit your request for reimbursement as soon as possible after your arrival on campus. No reimbursement requests will be accepted after Sunday 6th February 2022.
