Royal Mail Strikes

The CWU has formally notified Royal Mail they plan to call on their members who collect, sort and deliver parcels and letters to take national strike action

This strike action is planned for Thursday 24, Friday 25 and Wednesday 30 November and Thursday 1 December 2022.

This strike action will cause disruption to the student parcels and staff mail services that we offer.

Royal Mail has well-developed contingency plans but cannot fully replace the daily efforts of its entire workforce. This means business collection services such as the one we have with Royal Mail will not be possible on days when CWU industrial action is taking place. There are likely to be some minor changes to collection times as Royal Mail will be collecting more items than usual in the day following industrial action.

On the days of strike action, Royal Mail will prioritise the delivery of COVID test kits and medical prescriptions wherever possible

What you can do
- Post your items as early as possible in advance of the strike dates
- Continue to post your items at Post boxes or Post Offices, however collections will be less frequent on days when strike action is taking place
- Arrange personal deliveries to be sent to personal addresses and not to campus. This should always be the case to prevent items being lost and putting our services at capacity.
