The gardens team are very upset to discover one of our signs has gone missing. It is a particularly special and unique sign. It was made on campus and positioned at a small corpse which we planted to recognise the work of a long serving gardener – Stan Palmer - who had his roots in conservation. He worked on Holywell Park area for many years, striving to look after our wildlife and improving our natural environment. When he retired we dedicated a piece of the campus to him. We made the sign ourselves from a campus fallen oak. Our arborist used wood burning technique to write the words so the sign has huge sentimental value and provenance. It is irreplaceable.
