FACILITIES MANAGEMENT NOTICE OF UNIVERSITY ROAD CLOSURE
Please be advised that a road closure will take place at the following location:
Elvyn Way, 95m section outside the Cayley-Rutherford Dining Hall in front of the Whitworth Tower building.
WHY DOES THE WORK NEED TO BE DONE?
The roof to the Cayley Rutherford dining hall is in urgent need of recovering, it has reached the end of its life and suffers regular roof leaks.
A scaffolding contractor has been employed to erect the safety scaffold around the perimeter of the roof where the works will take place.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS TO STUDENTS AND STAFF OF THE UNIVERSITY?
A leak free, insulated roof which will last in excess of 25 years. This will ensure that the student experience continues positively as the catering staff will prepare meals in a suitable environment.
Scaffold will be erected and completed over two days, there will be no interference with the Open Day preparations.
HOW WILL THE WORKS AFFECT ME?
The section of road will be closed, safety fencing will be erected to deter pedestrian access from an unauthorised area and to assist the safe working of operatives.
In particular, if you have a mobility issue and are likely to be adversely affected by these works, we would like to hear from you.
