Careers Events – Presentations - What's on Weeks 3 and 4 – Semester 2 at Loughbo

Careers Events is a series of presentations and workshops to help you develop your employability. The Probation Service and The Police
Are you wanting a career where you can make a difference to society? Well this is the talk for you! This panel style/networking event will feature representatives from the Police and The Probation Service. A Careers Consultant will also advise useful resources to find other related opportunities. All students from all year groups are welcome!

Plan, Go, Goal - Goalsetting and Planning for your ideas and business
In this session, we will take you through key goal-setting and business planning tools and techniques to further plan and begin moving forward with your ideas and / or start-up business. These goal-setting techniques can also be applied to key projects or events you might be planning in your work as students and staff, or in industry too.
Thursday 20 February – 6.30 - 8.00pm – The Start-Up Lab, WPL201 Stem Lab.

Mock Assessment Centre (Commercial and STEM)
Hear first-hand what to expect and learn how to prepare effectively. Practise some elements of an assessment centre with the Careers Network and real recruiters. Have a go at the types of interview questions you may encounter. Experience a group activity. This workshop is for students from all years in all Departments. The event on this date will be supported by Druck Limited, GSK, Cummins, Atos and Macildowie.
Monday 24 February – 6.00 - 8.30pm – CC021 James France Building.

Pitching, Networking & Preparing yourself for the Spring Fair
During this session, you’ll have the opportunity to plan ‘how to pitch yourself well’ to employers in attendance and, by considering this in advance, you’ll be prepared to really showcase your skills and leverage your networks effectively – making the most of this exciting opportunity on campus! The session will be practical – providing you with time to practice, as well as offering hints and approaches for ‘pitching yourself’ and telling your story effectively.
Monday 24 February – 6.30 – 8.00pm – The Start Up Lab WPL201 Stem Lab.

PGT Mock Assessment Centre for SBE PG students only
The activity will be run in partnership with CIMA. Students will discover how assessment centres fit into recruitment practice, discuss activities such as interviews, case studies and presentations. Participate in a challenging observed group activity. Receive feedback and top tips for your next assessment centre or similar recruitment challenge.
This event is only open to SBE postgraduate students
Thursday 27 February – 5.00 – 6.30pm J001 Edward Herbert Building.

The Entrepreneurial Mindset - you and yours!
An essential session for all students looking to learn and reflect on whether they currently possess the characteristics that demonstrate entrepreneurial thinking, as well as to learn about the signs that have been present in some of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world. In this session, you will be asked to reflect on your own entrepreneurial mindset, the signs and characteristics you already possess, plus those you might wish to develop further. We'll also ask you to consider how you might develop them further and through what entrepreneurial activities over this term.
