Investigation Work Leading to Repair of Cold Water Main in University Road, Monday 28th October 2019 for 2-3 Weeks

INVESTIGATION WORK LEADING TO REPAIR OF COLD WATER MAIN IN UNIVERSITY ROAD.

Estates and Facilities Management are investigating the source of a leak on the cold water main which travels down University Road.

We will need to expose several areas down the hill between the Accommodation Centre and Haslegrave Building to locate the section of leaking pipework. This pipework is located within the road and therefore the road will be closed whilst this work is being carried out.

WHY DOES THE WORK NEED TO BE DONE?

Water is currently running into the undercroft at Sir Richard Morris Building, causing major issues to the operation of the facilities in the building. This work is needed to identify exactly where the leak is on the external water main.

HOW WILL THE WORKS AFFECT ME?

The works shall commence on Monday 28th October and may continue for up to 2-3 weeks until the leak is found and repaired.

The initial work is to be carried out Monday and Tuesday (28th and 29th October 2019).

There shall be a certain amount of noise created by this work, and the path, James France Walk, will be required to close during part of the works.

The University Road will need to be closed during this time and there will be no access to Sir John Ferguson car park.  Haslegrave and Brockington car parks will initially be unaffected.
