On-campus students: Donate your unwanted items with Give ‘n’ Go

Give ‘n’ Go is a campus-wide campaign run by the Sustainability Team at the end of the academic year as students begin to move out of halls and leave Loughborough for the summer.

All halls will have a donation station and they will be open 5 June-1 July for most halls, and until 17 July for halls with extended contracts.

The aim of the programme is to repurpose and recycle as many items as possible that would otherwise end up in general waste or landfill. The donations are distributed between several charities, giving students the opportunity to have a positive impact on the environment and on the people in the local community. The charities involved include East Midlands Dog Rescue, British Heart Foundation, The Arches and Shepshed Food Bank.

There are opportunities for staff and students to volunteer, including staffing the donation stations for the Give ‘n’ Go Big Weekend, 24-25 June, and during the sorting process. Please email enviroassist@lboro.ac.uk if you would like to volunteer.

The following items can be donated:

  • Food (unopened cupboard food)
  • Electrical goods (in working order or broken)
  • Books
  • Clothes and shoes
  • Furniture
  • Crockery and kitchen items
  • Pillows, duvets, blankets
  • Stationery (reusable)
  • Toiletries
  • Coat hangers

If you live off-campus there will be similar collections taking place on 13 June and 30 June. More information will be available shortly.
