Loughborough professor to be part of world’s largest philosophy and music festival

The HowTheLightGetsIn festival will host one of our academics, Professor Ruth Kinna, in Hay this May.

Ruth will be part of the debate ‘Democracy in the Dock’ with MPs Jesse Norman and Thangam Debonnaire.

The session will question if the current form of liberal democracy is fundamentally flawed. Many argue that the system has created divisive and potentially violent cultures with leaders with little to no experience running complex economies making wild claims and promises they cannot deliver on.

Ruth said: ‘I’m delighted to take part in the event and I’m looking forward to exchanging ideas about democracy, freedom and government with my fellow panellists and festival-goers.”

The HowTheLightGetsIn festival has an extensive line-up with over 300 events across 12 stages, including more than 180 music and performance events and over 100 debates and talks. Tickets are available online.
