Introducing: The LU Arts journal

LU Arts has produced its very own journal to aid student and staff wellbeing and it is available now at various locations across both campuses.

Journaling is the act of writing down your thoughts and feelings to help you understand them better. It can help you process things going on in your daily life and for many people, it is a practice that contributes positively to their wellbeing.

The LU Arts journal includes a daily thoughts template to encourage regular use as well as one-off prompts, self-care suggestions, ideas for ways to get creative, and space for more general reflections. There are also pieces of creative writing by current students and recent graduates which were specially commissioned for this project to offer inspiration as you use your journal. These are accompanied by illustrations and graphics by other students and graduates, including the front cover which was designed by Jessica Cox.

You can pick up a copy for free from the following places (while stocks last):

  • Pilkington Library
  • Parcels and print reception, Herbert Manzoni
  • Graduate Hub, Graduate House
  • Cope Foyer, Edward Barnsley
  • Reception desk, London campus

If you are not able to get onto campus to pick up a copy then you can download and print off the Daily Thoughts template from the LU Arts website.

Over the coming months there will be events on campus that support journaling and journals will be available at Student Services and Occupational Health events. This includes a workshop on Thursday 9 March as part of University Mental Health Day. Find out more on the Student Services events page.

LU Arts would love to hear from you about how you have used the journal and what you think about it. You can contact them via email at luarts@lboro.ac.uk or DM via their social media channels.
