Important voting information for students: Get ready for the local elections

To vote in the Charnwood Borough Council elections you must be on the electoral register and you must bring photo identification with you to the polling station.

The Charnwood Borough Council elections will take place on 4 May 2023, 7am-10pm.

If you have registered you will have received a letter from the Council to confirm this, as well as your polling card which tells you which station to vote at (these will be posted at the end of March/early April). You can also check if you are on the electoral register by calling the Council on 01509 634546.

From May 2023 voters will also be required to show an accepted form of original photographic identification (photo ID) at a polling station before they are given a ballot paper. This does not include your student ID card, or photocopies or photos of your ID on mobile devices.
