Live off campus and moving out for the summer? Donate your unwanted items through University scheme

The University’s Community Warden Team have organised for two collections where students can donate unwanted items before leaving for the summer.

Air Ambulance will deliver collection bags to all student properties and will then collect them on 13 June and 30 June. The items collected will be sorted and sold in Air Ambulance charity shops to raise money to help save more lives.

Students are encouraged to donate the following items:

  • Small electrical items in a workable condition
  • Accessories
  • Unused toiletries
  • Bric-a-brac (eg crockery and cooking utensils)
  • Textiles (eg clothes, paired shoes, handbags and belts in good condition)

Jenny Ardley, Community Warden said: “This is an excellent opportunity to ensure that all useful items can be donated. Students have been very generous in the past and our partnership with Air Ambulance has raised thousands of pounds and diverted over five tonnes of useful items from landfill.”

The Air Ambulance Service is an organisation based in Leicestershire, Rutland, Derbyshire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire that has attended over 40,000 missions in just 16 years. It relies entirely on voluntary donations and support from the community and local businesses.
