Stoiber powers through to Australian Open Juniors quarter-final

Loughborough University National Tennis Academy (LUNTA) player Ranah Stoiber has stormed through to the Australian Open Juniors quarter-final stage.

The 17-year-old Londoner produced an impressive victory over Germany’s Ella Seidel in the last 16 by winning in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

Ranah – who has now represented Great Britain at a number of Grand Slam Junior events – will face Poland’s Weronika Ewald for a place in the semi-finals tomorrow (26 January, match start 01:00GMT).

In the last major championships of 2022, The US Open, Stoiber also made the quarter-finals before a narrow defeat to number seven seed, Diana Shnaider.

The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam of the calendar year and will end on Sunday 29 January 2023.
