Preparing for a recruiter’s numeracy test? The Mathematics Learning Support Centre is here to help

Whether you’re looking for a placement or a graduate job, you may have learned that many employers now require potential employees to take a numeracy test during the recruitment process. Preparing for them can seem daunting, especially without any prior experience, but the Mathematics Learning Support Centre (MLSC) is here to support you.

The MLSC, situated in the Schofield Building, has books and practice tests available, just ask the receptionist if you would like to use them. In addition, you can also find two practice tests (Numerical Analysis and Numerical Reasoning), accompanied by the solutions, on the MLSC Employers’ Numeracy Test section. The section also features a reading list, as well as electronic resources to help you study and practice your skills efficiently.

If you have difficulties with any of the questions, you can book a remote session on Microsoft Teams in order to go through anything you would like to clarify or develop further. You can also drop into the centre without an appointment, as support will be on hand between 11am – 1 pm and 2pm – 4pm daily during term time.

Furthermore, Loughborough University has developed an open online course on Future Learn, which will help you to  develop your numeracy skills for employability, as well as the Workplace. More information on this can be found on Learn.

For further support, the Careers Network also has information about employer tests.

If you have any questions about employers’ numeracy tests, or need more support from the MLSC, please contact them via email at mlsc@lboro.ac.uk.
