Voices of Diversity: Babak Erfani MBE

Loughborough alumnus Babak Erfani MBE ChPP CMgr will share his story at the next Voices of Diversity, Thursday 11 May, at 5.30pm in Stewart Mason Building (East Midlands Campus) and online via Microsoft Teams.

In 2017 Babak was awarded an MBE for services to Network Rail and Diversity in Transport, in recognition of his work on the Crossrail programme and the founding of Archway, the LGBT+ employee network at Network Rail. Archway was named Network Group of the Year by Stonewall and won the British LGBT Awards’ Best Employee Network Award.

Babak studied at Loughborough, achieving a degree in BSc Air Transport Management in 2009 and a MSc Strategic Leadership in 2022. During his undergraduate studies, he also relaunched and chaired the Loughborough Students’ Union LGBT Association.

He joined Network Rail in 2009 as an Engineering Project Manager and progressed within the organisation to his current position as Senior Commercial Scheme Sponsor.  In this role he oversees the investment scheme for Network Rail’s major investment programme in signalling and digital railway systems throughout the Southwest of the UK.

In his presentation, Babak will share his experiences and discuss some key moments in history that have affected the environment for LGBT+ people in the UK.  You will have the opportunity to ask him about his professional development and his role in promoting diversity in the workplace.

Book your place to attend in person or online by midday on 11 May.
