Dr Mustafa Al-Nuaimi is the first recipient of the Newton International Fellowship from the Wolfson School. The subject of the fellowship, which runs for two years, will be focused on ‘Realization of Ultra-Low Power Consumption mmWave Intelligent Reconfigurable Surfaces (IRS) for Future 6G Communications’. The vision is to develop reconfigurable surfaces that can redirect electromagnetic waves in any direction for future 5G and 6G communications.

The Newton International Fellowships are awarded to approximately 30 of the most outstanding early-career international researchers across the sciences and humanities.

Speaking about his award, Mustafa commented: “It is really a proud moment in my career to be awarded such a prestigious fellowship from the UK Royal Society. I would like to thank the UK Royal Society and my Wolfson colleagues for the support in the process and over the next two years.”
