LU Arts and Student Wellbeing: Creative Wellbeing Series

Once again LU Arts has joined forces with the Student Wellbeing team to offer students a series of sessions focusing on creativity, mental health, and wellbeing.

There is an opportunity to be creative at each session with access to the LU Arts trolley as well as talks from wellbeing practitioners, advisers from the Wellbeing team, and hands-on workshops run by local artists. Free copies of the LU Arts journal will be available. This is also an opportunity to meet with other students who may have similar experiences and interests to you.

Sessions are limited in number, so please book your space in advance via Target Connect. They are open to all students.

27 April, VitaMinds Wellbeing A-Z

VitaMinds are the NHS provider for Psychological Therapies in the local area. A practitioner from VitaMinds will be leading a talk about resilience and mental health.

4 May, ‘Fluid Marks’ Gussi Philippou

You will start this artist-led workshop with mark-making and drawings before moving on to turn these into stitching. You will learn basic stitch techniques, applique, and simple hand gathering while exploring how engaging with materials and hand processes can benefit your wellbeing. No experience is necessary.

11 May, ‘Bare Bones Journaling’ Holly Wilshere

This workshop will focus on journaling as a technique for recording and reflecting on thoughts and feelings and as a relaxing and enjoyable activity. You will learn low-maintenance techniques for journaling which are realistically achievable.

18 May, 5 Ways to Wellbeing (led by student wellbeing)

This session will identify five key areas of our lives that can allow us to achieve optimal wellbeing if we nurture them. This talk will cover these physical and psychological elements and how to implement them in our everyday lives (facilitated by Lydia and Julie, Wellbeing Advisers from the University).

25 May, Creative Wellbeing drop-in

This session will be a chance to spend time being creative with access to the LU Arts trolley. Members of the Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity teams will be present if you want to chat about anything wellbeing related.

All sessions start at 2pm and will take place in the Bridgeman Building.

If you have any access requirements or anything you would like the team to be aware of when running the event, please let the Student Wellbeing team know by emailing studentwellbeing@lboro.ac.uk in advance of booking and they will do their best to accommodate them.
