Professor Patrick Waterson

Loughborough academic wins prestigious international award

Patrick Waterson, Professor in Human Factors and Complex Systems, recently received the Hal W. Hendrick Distinguished International Colleague Award at the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) Annual Meeting in Atlanta in October.

This award is given to a non-U.S. citizen who has made outstanding contributions to the human factors/ergonomics field.

Speaking about the award Professor Waterson said “I’m really proud to receive this award on my behalf and also on behalf of all the other researchers I have worked with over the course of my career. I never got to meet Hal Hendrick, but I hope my work in human factors and safety science can continue on the rich tradition in systems ergonomics laid down by Professor Hendrick.”

Professor Waterson joined Loughborough University in 2007 and is a Fellow of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors, Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.

HFES is the world’s largest scientific association for human factors and ergonomics professionals.
