Men’s Mental Health Month – Upcoming awareness event

On Tuesday 1 November, the University will be marking Men’s Mental Health Month to raise awareness of preventable health problems that disproportionately affect men and encourage them to gain the courage to tackle their issues.

According to the Mental Health Foundation, approximately 1 in 8 men have a common mental health problem such as anxiety, stress, or depression. When left unattended, these problems can worsen and be detrimental to some.

To help men talk about their own mental health and support those around them, an awareness morning will be held in the Students’ Union from 9.30am on Tuesday. This will include a ‘Barber Shop’ pop-up as well as stands from the University Mental Wellbeing team and LSU’s Heads Up, with further information on the wellbeing support services available.
