Students: Sign-ups now open for wellbeing and resilience course

The University is offering a free 12-week external peer support course that will take you through various aspects of mental health and wellbeing, looking at common issues and implementing coping strategies to help.

Emotional, psychological, physical and social wellbeing affects how we think, relate to others and make choices. Having positive mental health and wellbeing can be an important part of maximising your university experience, thriving socially and achieving academic success.

The course #Me is a journey that focuses on each student’s individual circumstances and equips you in your own way, at your own pace. It has been designed by a recent graduate, for students and is entirely peer-led.

Based on your sign-up form, you will be allocated to a group of six like-minded students and will meet each week for an hour over 12 weeks, starting the week beginning 24 October 2022.

Groups can meet in person or online, as preferred, and are available Monday-Thursday at a variety of time slots, including evenings.

This safe, supportive environment will enable you to share experiences, engage in positive exercises, and develop healthy coping strategies which can be particularly useful around deadlines and exam periods.

Each peer group has two voluntary student facilitators who receive full training from #Me beforehand and are supported throughout. Facilitating is a valuable opportunity to help fellow students, develop your personal and transferable skills, widen your experiences, and enhance your CV.

Nearly 2,000 students have been involved to date and feedback from previous students has been very positive.

The deadline to sign up for this course is 5pm, Friday 14 October.
