Coding Narratives: Telling your story through interior/wearable objects

Designer and stylist Titilayo Abiola is running a series of workshops for students in which you will use a variety of textile and craft-based techniques to communicate something about your lived experience, be it generational or something poignant to your personal history.

Over the course of four sessions you will be able to explore a variety of textile and craft techniques, from knitting, embroidery, screen printing and possibly even coding. The method of production will be decided by you, through an initial focus group with Titilayo (which will take place online in advance of the four sessions), where you decide what techniques would best suit your idea. At the end of the course you will not only have gained a range of new skills but you will have produced a unique wearable/interior object that communicates some aspect of your personal history.

The course runs across four Wednesday afternoons (from 26 Oct - 16 Nov); as we only have a very limited number of places you must commit to attending all four sessions.

Exact room locations will be emailed to attendees in advance but will be in the School of Creative Arts buildings, with one session taking place online.

This workshop series is part of a year-long collaborative programme between LU Arts and Diverse Voices in Textiles.
