Liam is a Senior Lecturer in Bioanalytical Science in the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences (SSEHS) at Loughborough University. He studied an undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science at the University, where he continued to a master's in Exercise Physiology and a PhD in Analytical Chemistry (mass spectrometry).

His research focuses on the use of analytical science for the quantitative measurement of biomarkers in biofluids such as blood and urine. This research spans multiple disciplines including clinical analysis, sports anti-doping, toxicology, and exercise biomonitoring.

He has worked to develop and disseminate the use of analytical science to a wider audience within the research community. This work includes developing new lines of laboratory analysis to improve the options available for academics carrying out research projects within sports and health.

On featuring on the prestigious list, Liam commented: “I am delighted to be included on this year’s 40 Under 40 Power List. Returning as an academic to Loughborough in 2018 has provided me with a fantastic opportunity to bring back skills and knowledge learned from other roles.

“It has been extremely rewarding to work with fantastic colleagues in SSEHS and I would like to thank all of them for their help and collaboration. The inclusion on this list is a humbling recognition that our endeavours are worthwhile and appreciated by the research community.”
