Natural Environment Research Council funding available for academics and researchers at Loughborough

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) has awarded Loughborough University £100,000 to support academics and researchers build their expertise and agility to work across disciplinary boundaries for Discovery Science towards environmental solutions.

The initiative will support the University to initiate activities that will help the academic community to ‘discipline-hop’ and, in doing so, develop an understanding of different cross-disciplinary research perspectives and methodologies that could be used to enable discoveries that unlock new knowledge within the environmental sciences to address environmental challenges.

The University is seeking applications from colleagues to allocate this funding to. We are being encouraged to think beyond the more common disciplinary alliances and the breadth of the UKRI remit is therefore eligible.

Projects are due to start from the beginning of January 2023 and funding must be spent by 31 March 2023. Researchers (PDRAs) are not eligible to apply unless in collaboration with a permanent academic colleague and costed appropriately.

Please contact Alan Kirk (a.r.kirk@lboro.ac.uk) if you would like a copy of the application form and guidance notes.

Completed application forms must be returned by 4pm, Monday 28 November.
